I must begin by retracting my statement on the Philosophy clear days ahead… unfortunately there were no clear days just a lot of stormy ones. My face broke out like crazy and got extremely dry, you know that dry that your skin looks shiny right after you wash it because the skin is so tight & dry.
So as i walked into Nordstrom to return my failure of a face wash I passed by a Kiehl’s counter where a nice lady greeted me. (I’m a sucker for nice people at stores i feel a lot of the time most girls working at these counters are stuck up and not very helpful so i was instantly won over). I explained to her my dissatisfaction with the philosophy face wash and she took out every face wash she owned. She patiently walked me through her products and recommended what she thought best for me. I bought a few things and then returned to buy some more
Cleanser:
Kiehl’s Blue Herbal Gel Cleanser
It’s a blue gel but I’m not sure i would describe it as a gel since it is so “liquidy” it has a great menthol smell and leaves your face feeling fresh.
It does have salycilic acid which was important to me in buying a cleanser but is still very gentle it does not sting or burn when you wash with it.
So far I’m very happy this was bought on my return trip
Moisturizer:
Kiehls’ Ultra facial oil-free Lotion
I did let the lady know that although my skin was so dry at the moment I do usually have oily skin and most moisturizers make my skin sweat horribly. This is a very light moisturizer she tested it on my hand and it quickly absorbed it did not leave me sticky at all.
Still at home i tried it out the next day and was please it’s a refreshing light moisturizer that hydrates but does not go on heavy, it also does not sting or burn when applied. (i mention this because since my skin was so dry everything else i was using was making me sting and burn.)
Toner
Calendula toner
She didn’t recommend an acne toner because my skin was so dry and we wanted to keep it from getting like that again so this is what i got.
It has flowers in it, the only downside is sometimes when i go to apply it on a cotton pad the flowers come out as well and i get left with little pieces of flower on my face. this does not bother me enough to stop using it as it is great as a toner.
Avocado Eye Cream
This eye cream is so refreshing I apply a lot of under eye make up to hide dark under eye circles and this just makes my eyes feel so great and hydrated. My skin use to feel irritated under my eyes, i wear contacts so constant rubbing and all the products was really irritating my skin. This cream i feel has helped, it doesn’t lighten under eye circles or reduce wrinkles it is just a normal under eye moisturizer, i think in the future i would like to try something that would brighten.
And finally my favorites:
Midnight Recovery Concentrate
I love love love this, i didn’t think an oil could do my oily skin so well but it has, my skin is moisturized but not excessively oily and i feel like although i still have break out from when i first started my clarisonic my overall complexion looks clearer. My skin looks brighter and just younger. Although I’m 23 and my skin is young skin i feel sun and acne has left me with a bit of dryness and spots so this has really helped clear me up alot. I will repurchase this i am totally inlove with it.
